The meeting is a unique opportunity for the dissemination and discussion of cutting-edge basic science and clinical ophthalmic research.

In the morning the meeting welcomes research trainee abstract presentations (oral and poster) from ophthalmologists, optometrists and visual scientists of all levels.  Clinical and basic science research presentations take place, along with 'In the Pipeline' presentations from selected sponsors.

The afternoon symposium starts with the Norman Galloway Lecture, given by an internationally respected speaker. This continues with presentations from other eminent ophthalmologists, optometrists and scientists.

Afternoon Clinical Symposium 'Cataract Sound & Video Show'

Topics to Include:

  • Biometry - How to personalise your A constant
  • Cataract Surgery - Avoiding problems and dealing with them when they occur
  • Difficult cataracts - Uveitis, sublaxated lens, pseudo-exfoliation, vitrectomised eyes and high myopia
  • Femto Cataracts
  • Choice of lense including premium IOLs
  • Combining cataract and laser surgery


Abstract submission is open until 14th December 2013.

 Instructions for Authors:

 Abstracts should follow the subheadings: Title, Authors and Affiliations, followed by Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions not exceeding 250 words.  

Please also include your name, position, hospital, preferred address, telephone and e-mail address.

 Please indicate your preferred presentation technique: Oral or Poster.

Receipt of abstracts will be promptly acknowledged.  Successful abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings and NES website.


After a hot buffet lunch (included in registration fee) the meeting will continue with a symposium with presentations from eminent Ophthalmologists and Visual Scientists from all over the world.
